Ramesh (Ray) Mehra is a seasoned entrepreneur specializing in acquisitions and turnarounds within the manufacturing and distribution sectors. As CEO of R-Squared Group, he leads a portfolio of real estate assets and industrial/commercial component manufacturing companies, supported by a team expert in research, valuations, business analytics, lean manufacturing and OEM component sales.
Recently, Mehra successfully sold R-Squared Puckett, a manufacturing business that produced heat-transfer systems for automotive and commercial/residential industries, with a focus on OEM components with intellectual property protection.
Prior to his entrepreneurial career, Mehra led Oak Controls (later acquired by Corning), a $100 million manufacturer of gas range components supplying to major appliance makers including General Electric, Maytag, and Amana. Under his leadership, the company achieved 35% sales growth and 100% profit growth in the second year, generating over $10 million in cash flow and 30% RONA across three consecutive record years.
Earlier, Mehra served as President of Sunbeam Health and Comfort Products Group, a $200+ million division manufacturing electronic scales, electric blankets, and health monitoring products. There, he managed four manufacturing operations in Mexico, leading 1,000+ employees and significantly improving margins through cost reduction and quality improvements.
An alumnus of IIT Roorkee, India, where he is recognized as a distinguished graduate, Mehra maintains strong ties with the IIT community. He currently serves as:
- Board member of the IIT Roorkee Heritage Fund
- Head of the PAN-IIT Midwest chapter
- Active mentor in the Chicago area’s IIT alumni network
As an active real estate investor, Mehra maintains a diverse portfolio across the United States and India. His current focus with R-Squared Group is on acquiring and consolidating OEM component suppliers and continuing to invest in appreciating real estate assets.
